Ciarán Walsh

An artist’s novel which utilises sci-fi and pulp fiction literary modes as a method to approach post-colonial critique of the European ethnographical museum. The near-future narrative of the book involves a sleep experiment in preparation for the first manned-mission to Mars, leading the participant into apparent hallucinatory explorations of a museum-like labyrinth. A key historical starting point was the work of French caver and chronobiologist Michel Siffre. The cover design and layout for Vortices is by ︎︎︎Moritz Grünke. This publication work is in the permanent ︎︎︎‘Book Lovers’ collection at MuHKA, Antwerp, and regualry takes part in touring exhibitions as part of that collection. Some copies of the novel are still available; if interested ︎︎︎contact me directly.
