In It's Just a Shadow Away (2011), two actors work to recreate scenes from Andrei Tarkofsky's 1972 film Solaris in the original Russian - a language of which the have no knowledge - in a work examining personal loss, translation, alienation and the artificial recreation of emotional verisimilitude. The characters they work to bring briefly to life - ghosts that inhabit only the space of the video frame, but who are revenants of not only ealrier people but earlier artworks - argue over their memories, their clouded past and their lack of sense of Being.
