The Sickness, Book One
2017
Novella, 120 pages, digital offset print, paperback

First commissioned by curator ︎︎︎Elisa Rusca for the group exhibition Into the Mu at Kunsthalle Bratislava, the work utilises the format of paperback science-fiction so as to examine ideas of information control, memory and mourning, performed identity, and the materiality of bodies. The dystopian narrative of the book involves a mysterious global pandemic in a near-future scenario. A starting point in the conception of the novella was a story about the American actor Karl Malden including his original Serbian name (Sekulovich) in many of his productions. The Sickness, Book One was designed and published by ︎︎︎TFGC Publishing (Düsseldorf). This work is in the permanent ︎︎︎‘Book Lovers’ collection at MuHKA, Antwerp. In 2022 I participated in an online reading of two sections of the novella at the event ︎︎︎Reading Artist’s Books, organised by Regine Ehleiter.

Copies of the novella are still available.
